I am experiencing the same issue today and it had always worked fine for me! OS: Archlinux 
Applied suggested fix and it works! https://github.com/Tudmotu/gnome-shell-extension-clipboard-indicator/issues/459#issuecomment-2138858968  Search for UTF8_STRING in the registry.txt file and replace it with "text/plain;charset=utf-8".
