Dynamic measurement conversion

It would be nice to be able to live convert between imperial and metric. I've just been using the demo. Here's a concrete example: Original recipe: 2 lbs of beef Converted to metric: 907.185 g of beef

I could click on a button on the same page to convert back and forth from imperial and metric. Maybe even better yet, I could click on "2 lbs" and it converts to and from metric.

Another option would be to have a "both" option in the settings. So the converted result would be 2 lbs / 907.185 g of beef

One other small thing to improve: 3 significant digits is probably enough (907.185 g becomes 907 g; 4.24997 kg becomes 4.25 kg)

The nice thing is I can already go and fix the digits myself in the editor.

Very nice application by the way. Just what I'm looking for. Import support is impressive. It seems to have handled everything I've thrown at it.

I second this. All ingredients should really be stored in their original unit and then only transform/convert the values in the UI. This way you can:

  • Check the raw input for the conversion in case of any conversion errors have occurred.
  • Switch between units depending on what is best in the current situation, e.g. I mostly use metric but sometimes I bring out some imperial measuring units and then it might be easier using that.
  • Convert existing recipes to another unit.
