This fixes the broken submodule cloning process, generally called by the install script, which is also used by my Dockerfile

Hey @reality, I know you probably don't use dbot as much now, but my Dockerfile I'm working to use GH Actions to build, and it fails to build without this patch at the moment. If you can merge it, that's great, if not, I'll get the Dockerfile to use my dbot fork. Cheers!
