RTSP authentication errors on NC230

I have the NC230, and the following works fine: cvlc --network-caching=0 http://admin:md5pass@IP:8080/stream/video/mjpeg

I cannot get RTSP working with RTSP on port 554 though, it rejects all my authentication attempts. Did anyone find a trick to solve that?

i'm having the exact same issue with my NC230.. vlc just keeps saying enter credentials and doesnt accept anything.. even tried base64 on both username and password separately and together
