[Request] More compact layout

Open GLLM opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

Hi !

Readrops is great but I'd love to have a little more compact layout :

  • why display the folder name when you are reading a folder .... it loses some screen estate while the folder name is already displayed atop the screen
  • more compact articles in article list
  • ability to choose the font size
  • have a little more compact list of folders/feeds (as seen when swiping from the left border of the screen).

Is it something that could be done ? Or at least bits by bits, to help the user customize his UI to his liking ?

Thanks GLLM

Well, the folder name displayed in the top bar was added in 1.3 and I didn't tweak the layout to be more consistent (it wasn´t my priority).

more compact articles in article list

Apart from the folder name, I think the current item layout is pretty small, especially for FreshRSS and Nextcloud News accounts.

ability to choose the font size

For the reading screen?

have a little more compact list of folders/feeds (as seen when swiping from the left border of the screen).

If you talk about the folders/feeds management screen, I don't think I could make it more compact apart from removing margins.

Overall, I'm not satisfied with the current design of Readrops, which could be really better. I would like it to fully follow Material Design guidelines, but I'm not a UI/UX designer, so it will be hard to do better.

Ability to choose the font size.

Please, right now it's too small, I like to read with a bigger font.

Also do prefer a more compact layout. For said reasons, and another one:
I don't want (non-rss-server) external http requests to be done while just browsing the list of articles. Currently if you browse through the lists it makes loads of requests to fetch header images. I actually don't want/need such image.

Favicon is something different (and is totally fine) - it is usually from the rss-server, or is at least cached.

Example from tt-rss app, which compact layout I have been happy with for ~ 10 years now:
