Busy waiting in workers

It seems that work method in workers is doing a busy waiting?

Yes -- this is all just temporary though.

The project in it's current state is mainly a 'playground' for my experimentation with how I'd like this to work. I'm 100% open to suggestions / etc. The main goal is to keep it simple / easy to maintain =)
