Just a little bump on favour of being able to configure the maximum field length, with our use-case:

We're using ag to summarize our daily sudo logs, and at the moment a lot of commands are getting cut-off in the report because of the maximum field length, so we can't see the full commands being run.

Does this happen even in json mode? (Does JSON work for your use case?)

I haven't tried JSON, but it wouldn't work. We're generating daily emailed reports for our security duty officer to review.

We format them as HTML, with a <pre> block for the ag output.
