Unit tests for annotation features

Increase the percentage of test coverage of the source code, by writing additional unit tests.

I can follow the unitTests and R code, but not the biology. (Tried to go through one of your papers, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23323831/)

With some direction, I think I could be useful with testing code and/or the API. If you suggest one or two specific tests/code to add or improve, I would be happy to give a try. jim
