Linux64 Loading Crash with TEXTURE_QUALITY = 0

I've tackled down a problem I had which I'm confident it's linked with EVE, texture quality, and shaders. Steps to reproduce:

  1. download latest x86-EVE-Release.zip
  2. install it normally (on Ubuntu 14.04 in my case)
  3. set TEXTURE_QUALITY = 0 in settings.cfg
  4. Launch KSP.x86_64
  5. experience crash on loading (after a few seconds into the loading process)
  6. Log here http://pastebin.com/hcjSWDyp ends abruptly and there's no obvious link to EVE causing the crash

but if you repeat the steps above and set TEXTURE_QUALITY = 1 the crash doesn't occur, game loads normally. Also if you remove the EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements folder the crash doesn't occur even with TEXTURE_QUALITY = 0 I tracked down the problem to 2 shaders, both of them, when deleted, cause the game to load normally (of course you don't get clouds but still the game loads and functions properly) These are the shaders:

  • Compiled-CloudVolumeParticle.shader
  • Compiled-SphereCloud.shader

I hope this helps! Thanks for the great mod

doesn't TEXTURE_QUALITY set the size of the cloud tiling? setting it to 0 feels like it would be a 'divide by zero' sort of error. if you want smaller numbers than 1, perhaps try 0.5 or 0.25 or something?
