format / restore banks?
Hi, this is more of a feature request... don't even know if it's possible or not.
I have a cart that when i connect it (on macOS) one of the banks gives me a checksum invalid with a bunch of yyyyyyyyyyy as the title. this could very well be a hardware issue since it's been like this for ages even before i started using qart. on the official EMS software (back when i could still use it) it wouldn't even detect that bank.
was wondering if there was a way to restore banks like this?
Also maybe an option to empty/reset the cart to a blank canvas... this is because right now i was trying to upload a new lsdj rom and the app hangs and when it doesnt the lsdj gives me the dont panic screen.
The rule of thumb is: if the EMS cart doesn't work with the official program, then it's an hardware problem and sadly ems-qart won't fix it.
I will include a format bank utility in the version that I'm developing right now, but I'm 99% sure that it won't fix your problem.
Any news on this?
Not yet @Robbi-Blechdose (I've fallen a little behind with the new features). Do you have a specific usecase in mind?
It's my understanding that when you write to both banks, you get a menu to select which bank you want to execute on the GB. If I didn't want that menu anymore, it'd be nice if I could erase a bank to make it go away.
It's not exactly like this: the bank selection must be always done by hardware (by quickly resetting the GameBoy after booting it you select bank B).
What the menu allows you to do is selecting one of multiple ROMs present on the same bank, but if there's a menu in a bank and you write a single ROM on that bank with ems-qart, the menu will be overwritten by the ROM.
So if you just want to get rid of the menu you can already do it now, you simply have to write a ROM in the bank where the menu is.
Ah, cool. So there's no menu for between banks. That clears it up, thank you!
