I forgot master password. How do I add new hostnames?

I notice there is an option 'Do not ask for the master password to block a new hostname'. How does that work? As far as I can see a master password is needed to save preferences. And there are some new host names I would like to add but I do not remember the password. Is there a way to reset it or any other way around?
