It looks like at least some of where I went wrong was first attempting to install with dkms enabled - this failed, and messed up dkms service so terribly that...
I see that others are also having the issue I was back in January. Unfortunately I never found a fix either - I eventually installed GhostBSD (based on FreeBSD) instead...

I don't imagine it's practical to transfer 300,000 items any faster than it already does. That's a ridiculous number. Some people struggle with timeouts from how quickly it sends queries...
For any Linux users who are having this error and finding this issue, the config file is in `~/.spotdl/config.json` (or `/home/(your username)/.spotdl/config.json` in the absolute path.)
