Build instructions?

Hi,

if I wanted to edit the xwax source and build it, where would I start? Is it a matter of setting up buildroot and dropping the github files in there? Do you use a debugger like gdb when developing? Maybe via USB or serial? I am mostly asking out of curiosity, I think I would only be able to tweak small things but that would be great.

One feature I would like to see/implement is the ability to toggle the "platterenabled" setting with a button combination.
