WiFi network names do not support emojis/Unicode

I have a WiFi network that is an emoji on the standard keyboard with Android. Many other devices can connect. The latest NOOBS version as of the date of this issue (2.4.2) displays only jumbled characters, and cannot successfully connect (it says "Connecting..." and the spinner spins for at least the 10 minutes I waited).
