Returning to app after listening on web player overrides progress

When I return to the app after listening to a podcast in the web player all my progress in the web player is overwritten by the old progress in the app.

I see this as well, I started closing the app before opening and playing if I used other player like webplayer.

Does this happen when the playback is still active (playback bar is visible) or does it happen regardless?
