New tabs inherit the previous tab's terminal height and width

not really sure how to phrase it

if the current tab can hold 10x20 characters due to an increase in font size, creating a new tab makes that new tab inherit the 10x20 character terminal size even though its character size is much smaller.

to undo that change, you have to either change the font size or change the terminal window size
