It's a kernel issue, which will be patched in 2.1. Pi's with more then 3GB ram currently have their USB-header broken, there is no easy fix to get rid on...

we do use mavsdk and do not use custom dialects anymore

The idea behind this custom script is, that it runs without OpenHD running, it should be much lower "level" to debug even if QopenHD,OpenHD, .. is failing
