React-hot-loader will soon be deprecated

This change is quite significant.

I'd recommend looking at their boilerplate project and bringing the changes in from over there https://github.com/gaearon/react-transform-boilerplate

There are some great features that come along with the React Transform ecosystem, we should look into taking advantage of what it offers.

@SethDavenport I wonder if this will still be an issue now that we're using create-react-app. Since this issue was created before we ported our started over to using create-react-app, could you verify if this issue is still relevant?
