I am not sure, but I think google is blocking the IP when you are requesting too many articles. Therefore I made a fork that is using Tor. Now its working again. https://github.com/themetalleg/GNews-Tor

I had the same issue today. After looking at the module's code I saw it uses feedparser to fetch google news. So I tested feedparser in my own code and it returned a certificate error. I installed certificates in python and it worked again.
