Looks really nice, thank you for tackling this! I think the layout page would heavily benefit from having the layouts listed on the left. And it currently shows layout methods...

I don't think we're following Numpydoc, just using rST in the docstrings as we can. 😅 Anything would work, pick what you prefer.
