Slow loading or crashes for trees with internal degree 2 nodes
One for the "if you ever have the time to look at this" category:
I have various bits of software that make Nexus files in which internal
branches are broken by internal nodes of degree 2, representing Markov jumps,
host-to-host transmissions, and so on. FigTree is very slow to load them (or
maybe it just crashes) - much slower, in fact, than it is for much larger trees
that don't have these nodes. A normal tree with 10,000 tips loads much faster
than a tree of this sort with 1,000.
An example attached.

Can confirm it is slow but there are no exceptions being thrown and profiling
throws up some Java2D drawing routines being the choke points. Unclear what is
causing this.
