FigTree loads tree, but won't display tree

Open ghost opened this issue 5 years ago • 2 comments

Following a BEAST run, when I combine trees with TreeAnnotator the output tree will not show up in BEAST. However, you can see at the bottom of the screen that as I move my cursor across the screen that the tree is in there, but I just cannot see it. This issue seems to occur when I am adding a calibration point to date the tree. Any insight would be appreciated. I am using FigTree v.1.4.4 on a Mac 10.15.6

Thank you

Your tree has tiny, tiny branch lengths:

tree TREE1 = (((((((((1[&height=2.0E-323,height_95%_HPD={0.0,4.0E-323},height_median=2.0E-323,height_range={0.0,6.32E-322}

Something has gone wrong with TreeAnnotator or your BEAST run. If you remove all exponents (this is purely for testing), the tree can be visualised: image

Thank you.

I determined that the problem was the type of distribution I placed on nodes that I was placing calibration points on. I had attempted to use a 'uniform' distribution, which resulted in the tree you have there. When keeping everything the same, but using a log normal distribution the trees came out fine.
