Lost tree definition after saving

I recently downloaded FigTree v1.4.2 onto my Mac and noticed a strange thing happening after I initially visualize a tree, save it, close the tree, and then open it back up in FigTree. It looks like the branches are being collapsed and I lose much of the differentiation between nodes.

Before saving (first time I open the .treefile in FigTree):
