Loading a NEXUS file with no trees block gives an unhelpful message

I'm struggling to import nexus files into FigTree on Mac Yosemite, java version 1.8.0_131. I get the error: Unable to read file: java.io.EOFException. Any help would be great. I've tried nexus sample files so I don't think it's a problem with my actual nexus file (attached).
