Sync tear line running upwards with latest update

Open Jameeur opened this issue 10 months ago • 10 comments

Hi, I have installed the latest firmware for the RetroScaler Blue GBS Scaler found on AliExpress and there is a horizontal tear line running across the screen which shifts as the source changes. Whenever the source changes the line can come back again, and by source I mean changing from gameplay to menu or menu to cutscene etc.

I have ruled out anything on my end, issue has to be generated by the scaler. Are there any fixes to this? There was a firmware that addressed this 2 years ago but seems like it's not working for me

Do you have FrameTime Lock enabled? I had that issue until I enabled this feature.

Yes enabled and disabled it, I also enabled/disabled external clock generator

I found that the latest Retroscaler FW (v1.1) doesn't work properly with FrameTime Lock, so I reverted back to v1... https://github.com/RetroScaler/GBSC/releases/tag/gbsc . I raised the issue in the Retro Scaler GitHub but nothing there's been no new release to fix it.... Do you know which version you have?

I have no idea which version I originally had, but I did update it to the latest version and the issue remained. Ok so you reverted to an older version and it worked for you? Do you have a .bin file for your version so that I can put it on pyflasher and flash it that way?

Oh nevermind you did, I will test this out and will let you know

Here is the direct .bin link if you need it: https://github.com/RetroScaler/GBSC/releases/download/gbsc/gbs-control.ino.bin

Even though this v1 - Retroscaler had previously updated the binary without updating the version in the past - I had previously updated from the earlier one.

Ok I've tested it for a few hours and so far so good, however that's what I always say so gonna try some more games. How many hours did you test it until you considered that it was fixed?

I think it would come around after maybe 30mins or less so after playing for an hour or two with no more sync tear should be enough.

I can now confidently say that it worked, and I actually can't believe it. I bought one of these back in Christmas, and replaced it in January with the same issue. I don't know why RetroScaler is not aware of this issue. Maybe we should make them aware but this proves that they don't test out their products as well. Also a big thanks to you

No problem. Glad I could help! I think I saw that retroscaler is more interested in using Discord than GitHub for feedback but I didn’t get an account yet… if you want you could try feeding this back to them
