Deinterlace 1080i

Would it be possible to add a feature to deinterlace 1080i to 1080p? The use case is a Playstation TV, it can only output 480p, 720p or 1080i.

With custom firmware and the sharpscale plugin, PSTV can integer scale the original psp resolution up to 1080i and fill the screen and it looks great on my tv, but the deinterlacing adds some input lag. The psp resolution doesn't interger scale to 480p or 720p so you end up with blurring or black borders on all sides.

1080i is also available on some PS2 games, like GT4.
