Add text to existing PDF template

I'd like to add paragraph text to an existing PDF letter head template. Is this possible? From what I've seen I can only create new PDFs using pdfbox-layout. Thanks.

Helo barrypitman, you should at least be able to use the pdf as a watermark picture and put the new paragraph to the correct position to fill the empty space of the template.
