how to add Bookmark (not thumbnails) to be displayed in the navigation pane

Is there any example how to add a bookmark (name of a document's section) to the navigation pane? The ones I found for pdfbox did not work up to now ...

the PDOutlineItem seems to have all the names of the sections, but they won't display in the reader ... Is this a pdfbox problem, does anyone have a working example?
