rtorrent seems to be locked up

Once my rtorrent install reaches around 1000 torrents, it seems to stop functioning well. I can't add torrents, magnet links that are added remain as the md5 titles/filenames. Stopping and starting the machine do not seem to do anything.

I have looked at the logs that I can find and do not see any issues.

How did you install rTorrent? Did you use a manual installation script? There is a known issue with UDP trackers. Are you using these by any chance without dnsmasq + libtorrent-udns? Or are you using HTTP trackers without curl +c-ares?

What happens is these things block off the main thread and the rTorrent client freezes to the point where you can't do anything. I've resolved this problem and others with my manual install script: https://github.com/stickz/rtinst
