Already exists. 

I have added an option to change reader background in Settings > Reader which should change it instantly. I'll need to figure out why it is slow on some devices.

Horizontal reading mode is planned for future. There isn't a way to add it right now.

Does NovelUpdates have a public API?

I do plan on making sources external. Currently, I don't know how to do it in React Native.

There's already a snackbar which pops up when you remove a novel with downloaded chapters from library.

Selecting text was removed from the default reader, you can only select text if Render HTML is on.
