Possibility to change the encryption password

Hi! Could it be possible in the future to change the encryption password after setting up the app? Thanks!

Seconded. I had an issue where the password I set wouldn't decrypt the backup, so now I'm a bit stuck. I don't want to have to reset all of my 2FA for every account due to what was likely a typo.

Hello. Is there any update on having the ability to change the Master Password? While I do not particularly need this (I created a very strong password initially), I could imagine plenty of situations where a user may want to change the Master Password. Seems like an easy feature to implement, as well as an incredibly useful one. If, for example, a user initially created a MP that was short/weak, he or she may want to update it. Currently, there is no way to do so. Thank you!

Came here to vote on this.

Newer Raivo user - coming from Authy. Just exported my .zip file for the first time... my master password does not work. It's entirely possible I fat-fingered it, or just completely forgot it (doubtful) but I would love the ability to reset/change it.

Thank you!

+1 another vote for this feature.

I also evaluate this application and find that I cannot modify the master password and also cannot move from offline to cloud backup mode.

Unfortunately, I had my Raivo encryption password in LastPass... and with the revelations of December 2022 it's entirely possible my vault has been exfiltrated, so I'm changing any secrets I had stored in there -- my Raivo encryption password being one of them.

I don't see a way to change it, and based on this feature request, I take it there is none at the present time.

I was also affected by the LastPass breach. It would be great to be able to change the Raivo encryption password.

However, I don't know how difficult that would be to implement, so I think a good alternative could be allowing additional "accounts/vaults" that use different encryption passwords so we would be able to migrate the accounts onto a different Raivo vault before deleting the previous one.

As is, the only way I can think to update the authenticators for all my accounts would be to:

  1. disable 2FA for all accounts first
  2. sign out of Raivo
  3. delete the synchronisation file
  4. log in to Raivo
  5. create a new encryption password
  6. go back to add 2FA to all the previous sites

I just migrated all my accounts over to Raivo, but it would seem I did not write down the master password for exporting. I do not remember what I set it too either. How do I change it or update it?

Edit: I was able to remember it after several test, but I would still like the option of being able to change it after initial setup.

Although I have not yet introduced a way to change the master password, due to the implementation of #241 it is now possible via a workaround. This feature (#241, import from ZIP) will be available in several weeks and is currently being tested in TestFlight.

The workaround is as follows (it does require you to know your current master password):

  1. Make a ZIP-archive exported via settings.
  2. Sign-out of Raivo.
  3. Sign-in again and instead of entering your password, delete all data.
  4. Configure Raivo and set a new password.
  5. Use the import ZIP-archive functionality to import your OTP's.

This is similar to what @ThaiGQ stated (thanks for providing that valuable input 🚀), but now in a more easy way as the import also works.

I can confirm this workaround works as intended.
