Open Access
Open Access refers to online, free of cost access to peer reviewed scientific content with limited copyright and licensing restrictions.
We are seeking contributions of resources and discussion around the topic of open access here (where you can submit a pull request for #hacktoberfest :jack_o_lantern: ) or feel free to comment below.
You mean, all these questions are to use this Open Access? or any Open Access medium?
@rajasekharponakala Thank you for your question!
FOSTER Open Science is a fantastic resource which will inspire this kit, but in this case I was just referencing their definition of open access.
What I am looking for with this issue:
- What open access mediums are available? (For example, in astrophysics we use arXiv to publish preprints, so I will include a tutorial on how/why we do this in our community.)
- What topics should be covered under the Open Access umbrella of the toolkit? (For example, Green vs Gold open access, funding mandates, etc.)
- What barriers do you personally (or the community as a whole, generally) face to making your publications open access?
- What benefits have you personally experienced (or what are the benefits to science) by making your publications open access?
- Do you have any questions regarding open access?
I hope that was helpful! Please let me know if I can clarify this further :)
Resource: Preprint servers
Include importance of publishing null results e.g. in Research Notes of the AAS for astronomy
Topic: legal publishing framework; publisher agreements e.g. embargo period, copyright, etc
