Headings are underlined in Info mode

Concerning aesthetics: In Info mode, headings are underlined. However, in an “unadulterated” Cocoa build of Emacs (e.g., Emacs for Mac OS X), Info-mode headings are not underlined.

Are the superfluous underlines an unintended artifact in “Mac Port” Emacs?

How can they be suppressed?
