Upterm is looking for maintainers

Open le0pard opened this issue 6 years ago • 15 comments

Hey GitHub community!

If you are a Node.js/Electron developer, you have probably heard of Upterm open source, a terminal emulator for the 21st century.

Upterm has 18634 (2018-05-28) stars and people who use it, call it "magnificent".

This message is about Upterm and its future. But it is also about people and what they do in their lives, how they come and go, and how only a few of them leave a lot of great products & ideas for all of us to use and enjoy.

Vlad Shatskyi (@vlad-shatskyi) died. He was the main contributor to Upterm, the one who had the vision and love for this project, the person who moved it forward.

He used to work for Railsware, and we (his colleagues) decided to find one or a group of developers who would not let this project die, who would be willing to take over the ownership, start maintaining and pushing it forward.

We at Railsware will be happy to see Upterm wake up and start living again, evolving and benefiting the global dev community.

Let’s find the new Upterm contributor together, let’s breathe life into it and not let it be forgotten.

Shares, likes, and all possible ways of distributing this message are welcome!

P.S. I have completed some urgent requests. Even though I have other open source projects that I contribute to, I don't have a vision for Upterm. And having a clear vision is what drives open source!

Hey. I tried this terminal couple of times and liked it. I hope I could start helping. I think best for now is start grabbing issues from list and improve through PRs

Wow, what a shame, what happened to the project and its creator. I fell here from parachute, I was reading and researching a lot about it, I'm working on a project that will need a terminal maybe I can try to help this project, to start it on again what do I need to do?

patrickalima98 avatar Jul 27 '18 22:07 patrickalima98

what do I need to do?

Start with PR requests. Select any issue, fix it, create PR. Repeat. For best contributors in this tasks I will give write access to project. I hope it is the best way to find contributors to project.

I would love to help with this project. I have a few years of experience programming, but I'm still pretty much a novice with ts/js and open source. I'll go through pr and issues as much as I can.

I am a Javascript and Python developer. I'm familiar with Node.js even though I'm not an expert. I would like to contribute to this project. I think it's very interesting to develop a terminal. If you want to know more about me you can see my professional profile https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexol/
