Improving Accessibility

Hi, Could you create useful alternative text for images? Alt text like "screen shot" doesn't describe anything useful about the screen shot.

That's a great suggestion! If you're interested in creating a pull request to address this problem, we're also happy to help! :smile_cat:

Good call, @mjlipner — that is definitely something we can do. I will make time to work on it in the next few days.

Code speaks louder than words, on this front. Are there specific images you were thinking about? Is there something stopping you from making the change yourself? I'd like to help if anything was hindering you from contributing

I cannot make the changes myself because I am blind, and don't know what the images show. That is why I made the request. all images that convey meaning (including screenshots that show examples of a layout or a process) require meaningful alternative text that can serve as a textual substitute for those who cannot see the image. If the alt text says "screenshot" it provides no description at all, someone who can't see the image will have no idea what's significant about the image.

Some alt text has been added in ecfacf4f4914f19f2d80d59cba287f7d5af8ee2e, which should be deployed now. Is this sufficient for finishing this story, or are there other things that should be changed?

I think someone (me?) should do the Installfest, too, since I think that has a lot of screenshots in it.

And then we should start working through the other curriculums, probably in order of popularity. Maybe close this issue, and we can open another for the Installfest? Or just leave this open. IDK.
