documentation for bridge_troll admins

Open ultrasaurus opened this issue 5 years ago • 7 comments

I can't seem to find any docs on how to do admin tasks. I've been figuring things out by looking at the code!

[ ] create a chapter: https://www.bridgetroll.org/chapters/new [ ] How to add a chapter leader? [ ] How to add a course? https://github.com/railsbridge/bridge_troll/issues/554 [ ] checklist for approving an event? (formatting, does it outreach to some underrepresented peoples?)

Questions for the community:

  • if you were a new admin and looking for these docs, where would you expect them to be?

chatting with @jr0cket: as a new admin, looking for these docs, where would you expect them to be?

Maybe an admin menu in the header? (or link only visible for admins) if not in the header, maybe in the footer

Is there a way to waitlist a student that signed up as male and has no plus one under-represented type?

Or is there a way to contact this student to remind them the event is not prioritising male genders?

It would seem that the only action we can do is to revoke their RSVP (and not sure if that includes an option to email them as to why their RSVP has been revoked). I would rather not revoke their RSVP without explaining to them the purpose of this event.

They may have signed up as a student in error, and would like to give them the option to coach.

Having a 'Manage Students' section to the Organiser Console that had some of these features would be very useful.

hi, @jr0cket!

Q. Is there a way to contact a student?

If you go into the organizer console, you should see a button that says "Email attendees"

Fall_2018_Workshop_-_Bridge_Troll

Once there, click the "select Recipients" text field and a dropdown menu will appear with available attendees to select for recipients.

Once selected, you will see the students' names appear in the text field as recipients.

not right now, I wrote up a feature request, can you take a look? https://github.com/railsbridge/bridge_troll/issues/635

Is there a way to set a session date to be UK format or to display the month in words?

For the UK, the date 5/11/2019 is read as 5th of November 2019 (and not 11th May) unless you know its in American (USA) format. This has lead to a little confusion in sign-ups

Can the date format be localised, or perhaps just have the month in words if its simpler.
