Onion v2 Deprecated (Question)

Hello, when I trim my onion address from 54 characters to 16 I cannot access them from tor browser anymore, it says connection timed out, I read this article https://blog.torproject.org/v2-deprecation-timeline and it seems that pretty soon v2 onion address won't be supported. Is it a problem for onioncat? My goal is to access my hidden service from an ipv6 on the "Clearnet", using onioncat as a gateway is it possible? Thank you for your answers.

Onioncat supports V3 as well although it is not so neat as with V2. Please read this article, it explains HOWTO V3: https://www.onioncat.org/2019/08/onioncat-and-tor-hidden-services-v3/
