Windows exe doesn't open (no error message)

I'm running Windows 10. I tried opening the .exe with all possible compatibility settings (and without any) and it just doesn't open. No error message is given either; nothing just happens, except on Vista compatibility mode a command prompt opens up for a split second. I also closed my antivirus and firewall programs in case they were the culprits -- no change.

Sorry, for some reason I did not get a notification. Regarding your problem: This is not an application with a graphical user interface, so if you just click on the executable nothing will happen. You have to open a terminal window like e.g. powershell. Then navigate to the directory containing the exe and run GuitarProToMidi.exe path\to\your\file.gp

Also, dude, don't deactivate your antivirus and firewall if you can't get a random executable from the internet to work. ;) If in doubt, at least upload the file to https://www.virustotal.com/gui/home/upload beforehand.

rage, I attempted to run the GuitarProToMidi.exe through Powershell ISE, using your recommendation and received the following error message: "GuitarProToMidi.exe - System Error The program can't start because api-ms-win-core-winrt-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Which version are you using? Did you download the binary from the release section or did you compile it yourself? In case you've downloaded the 0.1.5 release, try the 0.1.4 and tell me whether that fixes your problem.

Edit: Also, which version of Windows are you using?
