Unable to map right stick to dpad
- Device model: ayn Odin pro
- Android version: 10
Problem:
MelonDS doesn't seem to allow mapping of the right stick to the dpad. This would be a great feature to have, so that retro handhelds like the Odin could be held in portrait mode. It also seems to happen on a pixel 6 with an 8 bitdo controller, though this wouldn't have a practical purpose with this controller, it just demonstrates the issues is reproducible with different hardware.
I am able to map the right stick to the dpad using the MelonDS RetroArch core, however performance suffers.
Steps to reproduce (if applicable):
- Enter input mapping
- Attempt to map the right stick to the dpad
- No input will be detected.
Add screenshots if the issue can be visualized.
Are you actually using an Odin? If not, let me know which controller you are using or try with a different one if you can. I don't have any issue using a DS4, which is what I have. I'll see if I test this using other controllers.
I am using the Odin. I had tested an 8bit do controller as well, but there isn't much need of right stick to dpad on that controller. :-)
The Odin's built in controller would be the one that would be awesome if fixed.
The left stick can be mapped without issue, only the right stick has the issue. I am happy to provide any info about the built in controller in the Odin that would be helpful.
OK. I managed to reproduce your issue. I'll see what I can do :)
Thank you for looking into it. I understand it's a niche issue, but maybe it would apply to other handhelds too, or people mapping controllers in unusual ways for accessibility.
