Ad-Supported Code Completion is very annoying

Open Poinet opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

Hello,

I would like to complain about the code completion becoming ad-supported, the code completion is one of the most important feature in CSharpShell application, the fact that it became ad-supported and would not work without the internet is insanely annoying and may discourage people who prefers to work offline. You may have other features being ad-supported but not the code completion as it was too important to be ad-supported.

Without the code completion due no internet, how am I supposed to work on my important projects without having to code blindly and may cause issues that you have no idea about. I understand that there is no such thing as a free lunch and you need to implement ads in the application but at least balance between important features and ads.

Oh, also I forgot to mention that there is a bug in which the code completion cannot work even if you have internet, even if you disconnect and connect the internet, the bug wouldn't be resolved.

There is a way that you can fix this issue without making it annoying for users.

The software cost few bugs. You dont want support developers which make the tools for you? You are a developer, is all you do for free?

(What annoys me is only that the big tech companies parasite too much from the appstores, and now suppress the compiling of the code.)

PS I pay for software if the price us ok, but i will NEVER rent software.

There are apps with very restrictive premium models. I try not to do that. There was only 1 real feature that was behind an ad supported wall - exporting APKs. However a few months ago I had to remove that from the Google Play store and distrubite it independantly. But recently they've changed their ad services so they don't work unless the app package is published in Google Play. Obviously a problem here. And I'm removing the ad requirment for exporting APKs.

I thought I noticed the Xamarin.Essentials network event not firing once, but coudn't replcate it. I might have a solution for that. Also might have to redesign this code completion situation a bit.

Most people don't want to give any amount of money. Especially right now. However nobody works for free. To clarify I'm not part of a company in the context of this app, it is an independent project. So I work on it whenever I have time.

Hi,

I do not mind any other features being AD supported, such as Apk Exporting feature before but since it was removed, Redimitrov had to make other feature AD support which I wouldn't mind but he made the most important feature (code completion) AD supported, I know that he does not work for free like nobody does work for free. Now let's discuss with the bugs that was caused because of this, even if you have internet it wouldn't work anyway making it even annoying than it is already.
