Feature Request: Full width image on home page for most recent post

Similar to what Quartz does on their home page, would it be possible to have a full width image on the Independent Publisher home page that references the most recent post, with the headline overlaying the image?

It would be a single image, with following posts appearing as they do now.

@ridestory This feature would only be possible with considerable changes to the home page code. I'll leave this feature request open here in case anyone else wants to contribute such changes.
