Feature Request: Full With Image As Blog Header

A full with image (very similar to the featured images for single posts) would be a nice option for the theme. A perfect example can be found at the link below:

As in the example, the picture is not frozen/static when we scroll down. Also the about me section right under the header image can also be optional. But since this option is dependent to the header image option (i.e. without the header image this about section would be at the top like the header and this does not make sense), I'm not making a separate request for it.

This might be possible using absolute positioning, but it's not something I'm interested in exploring for this theme, as the sidebar feature would conflict with this (i.e., you'd need to make sure a full-width inline image in the post did not cover anything in the sidebar).

Full width cover image for the home page like in this example tumblog: http://stream.utpal.me/ would be a pretty welcome addition.

It appears this feature is now available in "Independent Publisher 2" through WordPress.com. Could it be added to this version?
