I am seeing this problem too on a machine where Proxy Switcher extension was installed but disabled. I have another FF installation where Proxy Switcher was not disabled and there it is working correctly. Could this be related to a change in the FF permission system? I already tried removing and re-installing Proxy Switcher but it did not help.

This solved the problem for me: re-install the extension and during installation, check "Allow this extension to run in private windows".

The problem occurred in non-private windows, but perhaps certain privacy settings trigger the problem too.

This problem appears also in FreeBSD, reinstalling brings back the working state.

Here's my scenario when this is happening: I also have NordVPN Extension in Chrome. After using NordVPN (after = disconnected after using), I'm not able to use Proxy Switcher anymore. I have to un- and reinstall the Extension to get it back working.
