[Feature request] pause/freeze instead of discarding tabs?

Before I had discovered this super useful browser addon I had configured my Xmonad tiling window manager to send a SIGSTOP to any process on a specific workspace once I left that workspace. And used that to freeze/pause Firefox windows while I was not using them, to safe laptop battery life. For messenging websites with notifications that I would still want to receive, like Matrix and Mastodon, I used a separate Firefox process/profile/window on another workspace, which would never be SIGSTOP'ed.

The disadvantage of the auto-tab-discard option compared to my previous approach is that once I reopen a previously discarded tab again it'll be completely reloaded from the web. The slight delay might be a bit annoying, but in particular when I'm on a train ride, with the often limited cellular coverage here in Germany in rural areas, that will typically fail. On the other hand, not every train has power outlets for laptops here yet either, so saving on battery life would still be great.

As I don't care that much about RAM usage, more about CPU usage, it would be nice if there were a more light-weight option in auto-tab-discard to pause tabs, instead of completely discarding them.
