[Option to] Not release/reload tabs when switching to them

Hello!

I'm looking for an option to switch to a tab but keeping it discarded. I usually flick through open tabs via keyboard and "pass by" discarded tabs that I don't need right now. When they come into focus, they automatically get released (is this the correct term? un-discarded? reloaded?), which eats resources and slows down my browser(s).

I'd wish for an option to activate tabs only

• on click or key press, or
• after a delay

Sorry, in case I'm just blind and this feature exists already, but I couldn't find it.
