Feature to show number of active and discarded tabs

This is a request for a feature that is by no means essential or that I expect needs to be implemented, but I would find it very helpful and I imagine it would not be hard to implement.

It would be great if, when clicking on the toolbar icon for the add-on, it could display the total number of active vs. discarded tabs (not just discarded by the application; each tab should fit into one of the two states). Clearly, the add-on already calculates this information, and it would make it easier for the user to understand (especially when they have set settings that lead to a significant number of tabs never being discarded) whether the browser is lagging because there are few tabs discarded, or if there are almost no active tabs and that the issue lies somewhere else. Obviously, many users of the add-on have a large number of windows and tabs open, so manually counting them based on the favicon isn't realistic.

Discarded in current window / total window, and discarded overall / total overall are both good stats.

Badge area does not accept more than 4 digits on most browsers so it is not a good place for debugging. Since we already have "enable debugging", as of the next release you can use the browser console to see more info about when and how many tabs are being discarded.

how about adding it to the hover title first?

most of us already have a general tab count plugin prolly (I use Tab Tally)

I use FoxyTab for an at-a-glance count of tabs:

– and extensions such as Tab Manager Plus for Firefox can offer a visual overview of the proportion that's loaded, without obsessing over the number:

… how about adding it to the hover title first?

IMHO it will be better for pointing (hovering) to show states #188 e.g. (already implemented):
