Documentation for handling snap files

I would like to access and process snap files (in particular bmat session) for some custom elaboration. I don't see documentation on how to handle these files (maybe I haven't looked enough) directly in python. Of course, there's the docx file describing the structure of snap files which, I guess, could be accessed using standard h5py calls.
