Ended up using a fork of this code which allows for a simple `spiderfy.enable()` and `spiderfy.disable()`. https://github.com/robertleeplummerjr/OverlappingMarkerSpiderfier-Leaflet I can now enable or disable the spidering effect based on zoom level....
