A {styler} sticker
Who can contribute one? How can we find candidates? Twitter?
We could ask @allisonhorst if she has time
Whoa, styler looks cool. I have time in July for a hex design if that's not too far in the future.
This would be very much appreciated @allisonhorst.
@allisonhorst are you still interested in designing a sticker for {styler}?
@lorenzwalthert Do you think any of these do justice to the package? I am not a graphics designer, so they are quite simple, but wanted to give it a try nonetheless. :)
@lorenzwalthert Any thoughts on these designs?
Oh I forgot to answer here. Sorry! Thanks for putting in time to make those. My favorite is tue top left. I wonder if we can choose a slightly less curly font to make it easier for people to read “styler”.
Thanks, @lorenzwalthert.
Do you like any of these fonts? If not, can you suggest a font that you do like from Google fonts?
P.S. I personally like the bottom left one (which is Gayathri font).
Thanks for the adaption. I think with font and layout, I am pretty happy (Gahathri is fine). Maybe the last tweak could be to bring a bit more colour into the sticker, to me, it's quite pale now. What about yello stars instead of black ones? Like this colour?
How about this?
- I like that you added
</>
, this makes it more clear that we make code pretty. - I think the window with the R editor is a good context, zooming out to the screen level might hinder legibility when the sticker is small (like in a README or printed and stuck on a labtop).
- On a related note, if you compare to other stickers, I think whatever is the subject of the sticker takes more space, i.e. in our case, less white space and more screen/stars/code... To adress that, we could make the subject more lanscapy to use fill also the space on the left and right vertical.
Thanks for the feedback, @lorenzwalthert.
I am not creating the icons here; I am using ready-made icons available for free (with proper attribution) on Flaticon. Can you go through the available options here, and let me know which one you prefer? Then I can take care of your third point about reducing the white space in the sticker.
Oh, I did not know that there were such websites :D
I have another idea. in our tidyverse blog posts ,the images were always related to dressing up:
A broom is maybe confusing due to the {broom} package.
So why not Suit icons created by Freepik - Flaticon and then put the package name vertically on the left?
Let's move this discussion to the PR: https://github.com/r-lib/styler/pull/1172
