Calculators fields should have ``isOptional`` flag

Description of suggestion or shortcoming:

When this feature is set, then when the field is empty, it should return an empty string or similar. This should be picked up by the underlying component.

This will be useful here, at least: https://squigglehub.org/models/ozziegooen/met-calories-calculator.

It could be nice to label this field as optional in the UI, but it's not a major concern at this point.
